Presentation

A new diptych from the OnR Ballet explores metaphor through the lens of animal fables, brought to life by two extraordinary dance ensembles. First the award-winning duo (Concours des jeunes chorégraphes), formed of Věra Kvarčáková and Jérémy Galdeano, present their imaginative choreographic and musical interpretation of Saint-Saëns’s The Carnival of the Animals, created in collaboration with composer Davidson Jaconello. Drawing inspiration from Orwell’s Animal Farm, their performance reexamines Saint-Saëns’s playful suite, from the graceful variation of “The Swan” to the lively flight of the birds, offering a subtle critique of our complex relationship with power.

Following this, audiences are immersed in Histoires naturelles, created by acclaimed choreographer Edouard Hue, renowned for his exploration of extremes and the emotional power of his work. Set to Maurice Ravel’s evocative score, this series of five witty vignettes is performed by a company of a dozen dancers, accompanied by pianist Jonathan Soucasse who weaves live electronic sounds into the music. Edouard Hue shapes the work with precision and intensity, fusing urban and classical dance vocabularies to create a powerful exploration that stretches the body and movement to their expressive limits.
