Alexandre Romanès

Former acrobat, tightrope walker and animal tamer Alexandre Romanès owns the only Roma circus in Europe he and his wife Délia set up over 25 years ago. Born into a community with an essentially oral culture, he didn’t discover the marvels of reading and writing until he was 20. After falling in love with poetry, he went on to write four collections of poems that speak about life in general, his own life and his people. A passionate defender of Roma culture, he speaks to us with his natural wit and passion.
