Presentation
Rising from the ashes of the Ottoman Empire in 1923, Turkey has been a cultural crossroads between East and West since the Middle Ages, a place where different cultures have clashed and blended. Music in all its forms—classical or contemporary, highbrow or popular—has been a key witness to these interactions.
Accompanied by musical excerpts and imagery, this talk explores a topic that is as complex as it is revealing of Turkey’s rich cultural and historical heritage.
