She is one of the great Indian singers of Carnatic music, frequently invited abroad for concerts that are so many events. Aruna Sairam was one of the pioneer singers of her generation in raising international public awareness of the sound and perception of South Indian vocal music. During a stay in Germany, she realized that traditional Indian music is almost unknown in Europe. From this unexpected experience was born a new mission: to promote South Indian classical music all over the world.
She is accompanied by two percussionists and a violinist during her performance at the Opera.
