Presentation

The city has replaced the lake. The moon no longer has its mirror, dreams no longer exist, and the Stork has lost his job of fishing for dreamers’ dreams and taking them to the sky so the stars can shine. In the city, the peacock, the sparrows, the hoopoe and the nightingale live side by side. Each has his character, his quirks, but all are ready to use their skills to snare the poor dreamers. Following the success of Sindbad, A Journey Through Living Flames in 2017/18, the Opéra national du Rhin has commissioned English composer Howard Moody once more. Moody is internationally known for his outstanding, original work with and for young audiences. In Lunar Lake, he joined school students from the Meinau neighborhood, children from the Maîtrise of the Conservatoire, and hearing-impaired people from the Institut du Bruckhof on a creative adventure lasting over a year that benefits from the rich diversity of every single participant. Howard Moody will also be conducting the orchestra of the Haute école des arts du Rhin (HEAR). The production is brought to you by Sandra Pocceschi and Giacomo Strada, the duo behind last season’s Gold!
