Biography

Born in Bonn, Frank van Hove started to study singing and acting with teachers such as Hartmut Singer, Kurt Moll, Rudolph Piernay and Irmgard Hartmann in Berlin.

His first engagements led him to the opera houses in Dessau, Braunschweig and the Nationaltheater Mannheim, where he was a member until 2011 and performed a broad repertoire including roles such as Ochs/Der Rosenkavalier, Pogner/Die Meistersinger von Nürnberg, Fasolt/Das Rheingold, Hunding/Die Walküre, Daland/Der fliegende Holländer and Mozart's Leporello, Don Alfonso and Sarastro.

Further highlights include Kuno/Der Freischütz at the Teatro alla Scala and in a concertante version at the Théâtre des Champs-Elysées, Vodník/Rusalka at the Volksoper Vienna, Priest and Badger/The Cunning Little Vixen at the Komische Oper Berlin, Gurnemanz/Parsifal at the Royal Danish Opera Kopenhagen and in Freiburg and Karlsruhe, Fasolt/Das Rheingold at the Ruhrtriennale and in Toyko,  König Heinrich/Lohengrin at the Staatstheater Wiesbaden, Hans Sachs/Die Meistersinger von Nürnberg in Erfurt and Weimar.

He worked with conductors such as Kent Nagano, Teodor Currentzis, Marek Janowski, Christoph von Dohnányi, Hartmut Haenchen, Thomas Hengelbrock, Steven Sloane, Diego Fasolis, Chung Myung-Whun Chung and Kirill Karabits.

Engagements in the 2018/19 season include, among others, Wesener/Die Soldaten at the Opera Cologne, Elektra at Teatro alla Scala, as well as Hans Sachs/Die Meistersinger von Nürnberg at the Teatr Wielki in Poznan.
