Incredible Mektoub Orchestra

Formed in 2019, the Incredible Mektoub Orchestra performs a unique interpretation of Mediterranean and Eastern musical traditions. Made up of brilliant instrumentalists passionate about these genres, the band draws on a repertoire that each member has played solo or with other ensembles, resulting in unexpected fusions nourished by their shared fascination with Mediterranean cultures and peoples. On stage, the seven musicians take spectators on an aural journey from Naples to Tehran, exploring assorted styles from Italian tarantella and Algerian chaabi to Greek rebetiko, Anatolian folk and Iranian reng, weaving the musical strands into a perfect tapestry to delight their audience, as if playing for old friends. Segueing between deeply moving, impassioned lyrics and irresistibly dancey instrumentals, their infectious sound never fails to rouse a plethora of emotions in the audience.
