Commedia dell’arte had a profound influence on European culture. Many opera characters are based on stock figures such as Harlequin, Scaramouche, Pulcinella, Pantalone, Il Capitano, and Columbina. Excerpts from works by Mozart, Donizetti, Rossini and others.
