Part one of a diptych with Enfin la nuit

The city of Beirut is captured in two moments of its history in this diptych that melds music, architecture, and film. Made just a month before the 2020 Beirut explosion, Un dessin dans le ciel was intended to be a recording of a musical performance by Charbel Haber and an urban tour of Beirut and its iconic buildings designed by Lebanese architect Bernard Khoury. But after the tragedy of 4 August, the film became a farewell to the city. A city that, unbeknown to the artists involved at the time, was in its twilight.
