Biography

Originally from Valencia, Spain, Alba began her dancing career at the age of 17 with the Teatres de la Generalitad Valenciana dance company. In 2007, she joined the Compañia Nacional de Danza 2 under the direction of Nacho Duato; from 2011 to 2020 she danced as a soloist at the Ballett Theater Basel under the direction of Richard Wherlock. At the same time, Alba began her career as a choreographer in 2012 with her piece Behind the mirrors. The same year with the piece Bipolar skin, she was a finalist at the Hanover International Choreography Competition and won the Audience Award at the 5th Copenhagen International Choreography Competition. In 2018, she was nominated for the 21st. PREMIOS MAX in the performing arts (21st. Max Prize in Spain) and won second prize in the "Les Synodales" choreography competition in Sens (France). In 2019, she won the gold medal and the prize for best choreography at the Beijing International Choreography Competition for her works Before You Land and Remember me. Alba currently works for many companies around the world. She will present new creations in 2020 for San Francisco danceworks, the Ballet de l'Opera national du Rhin and Austinmer Dance Theater (Australia), as well as for Scapino Ballet Rotterdam in 2021.
