La Portée des Notes is a documentary film that takes viewers into the heart of a musical and social utopia, inspired by the experiences of El Sistema, a music education program founded in Venezuela that went on to help hundreds of thousands of impoverished children. A utopian idea that has become a very real and enthusiastically received concept in France. It is led by a nonprofit, Tutti Passeurs d’Arts, which helps struggling children integrate back into and succeed in the education system. Over an academic year, the film follows the school and home life of a small cohort of kids in classroom-orchestras where group music practice forms the bedrock of their education.
