Presentation

For its program geared to a young audience, the OnR Ballet asked two of its dancer-choreographers, Rubén Julliard and Marwik Schmitt, to contemplate one of the greatest composers in history, Mozart, and what it means to perform and dance to his music today, in the early 21st century. The Salzburg prodigy has a timeless appeal, but what does his music have to say to us now? How did Mozart develop his genius while balancing his father's expectations with his personal ambitions? How did his art navigate his own deeply personal language and the musical conventions of the time? As Julliard ponders: "Was his talent a gift or a curse?" A unique opportunity to discover the world of music from the dancer's perspective, in a show that is sure to appeal to every sensibility.
