Meyerbeer was one of the greatest names in Opera in the 19th century. Envied, copied and even parodied (just think of Offenbach), he was a model for many composers. Les Huguenots deserves far more than the unjust oblivion into which it has long fallen. Tackling one of the greatest landmarks in our history, whose avatars are the still topical today, this St Bartholomew's day massacre should lead us to reflect on the religious conflicts of our times.
