Sandrine Abello

Chorus Director and Conductor

After studying music at the Conservatoires of Nîmes, Aix-en-Provence and the École Normale de Musique in Paris, Sandrine Abello became Singing Master in turn at the Opera Houses of Avignon, Toulon and Angers-Nantes. She is regularly invited to summer festivals where she has conducted and played piano for the Petites Noces de Figaro and Mozart's Die Entführung aus dem Serail in a chamber music version for Saint-Céré Festival. She was Chorus Master for Mozart's Così fan tutte at the Beaune Festival, and Beiteddine Festival (Lebanon) for Puccini's La Bohème and was invited from 2010 to 2013 to the Chorégies in Orange for Aida, La Bohème, Der fliegende Holländer and Un Ballo in Maschera. From 2004 to 2010, she held the position of Head of Vocal Studies at Dijon Opera and then Chorus Master at Angers-Nantes Opera from 2010 to 2013. In 2007, she set up the Ars Nemausa Association to revive a forgotten musical heritage. Her first work was centred on Louis Dietsch and she has performed many of his works. In 2009, she founded the Thil Academy (Côte d'Or), a singing workshop for young lyrical singers. She initiated the creation of a show centred on Paul Ladmirault, performed in 2014 to celebrate the 70th anniversary of his death. In parallel, she continues to work as a pianist and has performed at the Radio France Montpellier Festival (Bera Casa Foundation), and in Tokyo and Genève. She became Director and Conductor of the Choruses of the OnR in January 2014.
