Europe Further Afield: Israel

Europe Further Afield: Israel

Gil Carlos Harush / Ohad Naharin

Contemporary dance is experiencing an extraordinary, fresh development in every corner of the planet. In a successful, multifarious dialogue with Western modern and classical aesthetics, new creators are expressing their differences and their own languages - and opening up new avenues. The series “Europe Further Afield” is focusing the spotlight on this theme from this season onwards. Gil Carlos Arush is a brilliant young example of the vitality of Israeli dance where formality and physical energy are combined. In addition to his creation for the Ballet of the OnR, Ohad Naharin, the charismatic figure at the heart of the Batsheva Dance Company, is introducing two new pieces to the repertoire with his superb Black Milk and George & Zalman.
